About JPI Climate

Europe aspires to be the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy in the world, aiming for sustainable economic development, greater social cohesion and more and better jobs. Climate change alters the conditions under which these ambitions are to be realized, affecting European society at large. The challenge is to transform energy systems away from fossil fuels dependency and to adapt European citizens, business and nature to climate change risks. New knowledge is required to support effective response actions that simultaneously reduce the vulnerability of regions and economic sectors regarding climate change, grasp new opportunities and achieve sustainable economic growth and greater social cohesion in line with Europe’s ambitions.
