ZSL Community Ambassador - Collection Team Volunteer

Overview:

The Zoological Society of London (ZSL), a charity founded in 1826, is a world-renowned centre of excellence for conservation science and applied conservation. ZSL’s mission is to promote and achieve the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. This is realised by carrying out field conservation and research in over 50 countries across the globe and through education and awareness-raising at our two zoos, ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, inspiring people to take conservation action.

Role Profile:

ZSL is looking for volunteers with a friendly and welcoming nature who can offer their time to help collect at local shops, tube stations and our street collection days. Ideally, we would require collectors to cover one or more shifts a month (each shift is 2 hours) (between the hours of 7am and 7pm), collecting cash donations and generating support within the local community.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Carrying out charitable collections at designated locations including supermarkets, tube stations and high streets.
• Adhering to collection rules for collecting in public places.
• Acting as an ambassador for ZSL whilst collecting.
• Counting & banking all collected monies, following guidance provided.
• Handing out flyers and promoting ZSL where required.

Person Specification:

• Confident self-motivator.
• Personable and friendly manner.
• An organised approach to record keeping.
• Attention to detail, neatness and accuracy.
• Basic IT skills (desirable)
• Interest in ZSL and the work the charity carries out.

Please note that this is a voluntary position. However, travel expenses (within zones 1-6) will be reimbursed.
