Research Director (half time for 2 years) This post will be responsible for delivering the projects research objectives and achieving its agreed outputs on time. The Research Director will oversee the rest of the research team; liaise with external organisations, co-ordinate the delivery of the six research seminars and to make presentations on the finding of the project. A core input to the research and planning process will be to structure the work ensuring the energy and economics scenarios fully integrate the findings of the research team. Key work areas to include:

 
  • Manage a successful research project which supports the project aims, including: planning, budgets and timescale
  • Line-manager for Research Coordinator, any research collaborators, sub-contracts and voluntary research staff
  • Ensure the research is academically robust, fully referenced and documented
  • Build research capacity of the project
  • Seek and develop research collaborations with external experts and organisations
  • In consultation with the GSE, develop opportunities for student work that support the project’s research aims
  • Develop opportunities for CAT and GSE staff to contribute research work to the project
  • Oversee the development of effective online research tools
  • Oversee delivery of the six research seminars
  • To actively participate in project outreach, presenting the findings of the research externally and within CAT
  • To be responsible for the research budget
  • Present quarterly progress reports to the Carbon Committee and to overview
  • Any other tasks as requested
  Key Skills: 

The successful candidate will be dynamic, self – motivated, diplomatic, have good written English, media aware, ICT competent, numerate, reliable, and offer a smart and presentable appearance.

 

Knowledge of climate change, energy security, renewable energy and economics would be desirable.
