The Zambia Community Conservation Officer develops, manages and advances community based conservation programs in western Zambia. The Zambia Community Conservation Officer provides technical leadership and support to the TNC Zambia Program. Requires sufficient knowledge and work experience in addition to one or more of the following functions: • Builds relationships with local authorities and traditional leaders and sets clear expectations • Develops partnerships with development NGOs and other stakeholders in western Zambia • Defines the conservation and development strategies for communities in the GMAs of western Zambia • Addresses critical threats to natural systems and local economies • Promotes economic development and sustainable resource governance strategies in communities • Knowledge of national politics and cultural issues with respect to environmental affairs • Employs a full range of protection and community development tools to implement a variety of strategies to secure public and private support for TNC conservation priorities.
