 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 Philanthropy 90%: Manages a portfolio of 50+ major gift prospects (with the capability of giving $100,000 over three years) in the Jackson area for giving to the Wyoming annual fund and campaign; and to The Nature Conservancy’s global priorities. Creates and implements strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of these prospects. Discusses assets proficiently and listens for opportunities for gifts of assets or other non-cash gifts, such as planned gifts and trade lands. Works closely with the WY philanthropy team and State Director; Jackson board members; and TNC philanthropy staff whose prospects cross-borders. Plans and executes a wide variety of events. Understands and complies with all TNC gift-related policies and procedures and ensures ethical compliance, as defined by the Association for Fundraising Professionals.
 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
 • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field and 5-7 years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Major gifts fundraising experience required.
• Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results.
• Successful experience with and knowledge of major gift donors within the Jackson community, managing and tracking a portfolio of 50+ major gift prospects.
• Knowledge of current trends in charitable giving, particularly in the areas of capital campaigns, major gifts and planned giving. Working knowledge or ability to learn basics of charitable gift planning.
• Successful experience in asking for and closing major gifts of $25,000 or more and building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents such as major donors, private foundations and corporations.
• Knowledge of and passion for the Conservancy’s unique role in conservation issues in Wyoming and globally
 ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
 • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to persuasively convey the mission of TNC to diverse groups including donors, corporate executives, board members and others who are important to the organization’s overall prosperity.
• Strong written communication skills; ability to write compelling and succinct proposals for individual donors and private foundations.
• Ability to work with and communicate with a wide range of people—the public, chapter leadership, influential donors, prospects and others.
• Ability to educate and inform prospective and existing donors about appropriate giving vehicles.
• Ability to build constructive and effective relationships with development team, state director and other key staff and board.
• Ability to work effectively in high-tension situations and maintain composure under pressure.

• Ability to design, implement, and direct fundraising initiatives, including individualized cultivation, solicitation and recognition strategies.
• Ability to plan and execute a wide variety of events, from small dinner parties to multi-day, complex pubic gatherings.
• Ability to work in high-visibility, fast-paced and stressful environment.
• Proven ability to negotiate complex, high profile or sensitive agreements.
• Ability to communicate a compelling and inspired vision or sense of core purpose.
• Experiments to find creative solutions.
• Ability to work long hours and weekends and to travel on short notice.
