WWF International Danube-Carpathian Programme is offering an unpaid internship to participate in developing and implementing the marketing, communications and fundraising strategy for the international non-profit organisation, which is responsible for leading, coordinating and to a significant extent implementing WWF's conservation work related to the Danube River basin and the Carpathian Mountains.

The focus of the organisation's work is particularly on issues related to freshwater and forest conservation, protected area management, EU-related policy and economic mechanisms for promoting nature conservation and sustainable development, especially in Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine and Slovakia.

Under the supervision of the Deputy Director/Head of Marketing, the intern will be closely involved in all or some of the following areas and activities (negotiable and dependent on the work plan of WWF as well as the candidate’s skills and interests):

  • Strategic planning for communications and fundraising, including background research and development of a business plan
  • Conceptualising, planning and developing as well as implementing communications actions and campaigns
  • Developing communications products and materials, including brochures, internet sites and pages, bulletins, press releases, and feature articles).
  • Researching and planning fundraising initiatives, particularly from corporate sponsors as well as public-funded programmes

Working language: English

Preferably at least 3 months between May and December 2009.

Higher education in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Fundraising, or similar. Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English as a working language. Commitment to nature conservation and ecological issues is an asset.

A valid work permit for Austria is a prerequisite.
