Working holiday on a french National Nature Reserve23th August - 06th September 2008 You will be working alongside 10 British and 10 French volunteers carrying out practical conservation work maintaining calcareous grassland for butterflies (Minois dryas…) and the Green Lizard (Lacerta bilineata); making a new fence and clearing bushes. Ravin de Valbois National Nature Reserve is in the Franche-Comte region close to the Swiss border. Famous for its ravine forest, cliffs, and grassland, it supports such species as Peregrine falcon, Eagle Owl and over 80 species of Butterflies.http://reserves-naturelles.org It won’t be all work ! Half of your time will be spent enjoying a variety of activities such as canoeing and exploring the Loue valley and the Jura mountains. Accommodation will be in a traditional gite in a picturesque village. A subsidised fee of £100 will be charged and includes accommodation, food (self catering) and recreational activities. You will be met at Besancon train station (part of the TGV network). You will need to arrange your own travel to and from Besancon. It is possible to pick up volunteers from Geneva airport but an additional £50 will be charged.
