Description

Description of the job

Salary £39,570 - £44,151 (pro-rata)

Fixed term contract/assignment for 12 months

The role

We’re looking for an experienced workforce planning specialist to lead improvements to workforce planning, structural management and management information use. In this role you'll work with human resource business partners and workforce planning experts around the Environment Agency to improve their ability to plan our workforce needs and to deliver change in a consistent way, influencing structures, processes, strategy, people, culture and values.

The team

The Workforce Planning and Management Information Team provides vital information and expertise about our employees to directors and human resource professionals, amongst others. We collate, interpret and report on people information to identify areas for attention. This in turn helps directors to maximise the effectiveness of our staff.

With a workforce of around 12,000 people, it is essential to be able to strategically influence the way the overall workforce will develop in order to meet our corporate objectives. This could be through scenario modelling, forecasting and intelligence-led reporting. We also help to develop our approach to workforce agility, learning and development, performance management and reward.

Experience/skills required

We’re looking for someone with an excellent track record in human resources and workforce planning in a medium or large organisation. You’ll be rigorous in your attention to detail and have strong skills in communicating and influencing. Ideally, you'll have been involved in major organisational change initiatives.

As you might expect in this kind of role, we are keen that you:

• have a deep understanding of employee resourcing;

• workforce modelling and forecasting;

• have a customer-focussed approach to work;

• easily build rapport with others.

Other key requirements are proficiency in spreadsheet use and word processing, and the ability to work quickly, accurately and flexibly.

Additional useful information

Civil Service site candidates please note this is a fixed term contract and not a secondment.

This 12 month assignment is predominantly based in Bristol, although we will consider more flexible options for exceptional candidates. Some travel to (mainly) London and Birmingham is likely.

If you are applying from the Civil Service please note that the Environment Agency is not a part of HM Civil Service and you would not be a Crown Servant in the event of being appointed. Therefore, you will not be eligible for continuous service. For applicants who currently work in local government or other bodies listed in the Redundancy Payments (Continuity of Employment in Local Government etc) (Modification) Order 1999, you may be eligible for continuous service for the purpose of calculating any future redundancy payment. If you are unsure of your status then you should contact your own HR Team.
