Description

BirdLife Australia is seeking an experienced, well organised professional to coordinate the finalisation, delivery and review of two key Conservation Action Plans (CAPs).

The Woodland Bird Conservation Action Plan Coordinator helps BirdLife Australia achieve its strategic goal of improving conservation outcomes for Australian birds. Specifically, the Conservation Action Plan Coordinator is responsible for working with the Woodland Birds Program Leader to facilitate the delivery of the Conservation Action Plans (CAPs) for South Eastern Woodland Birds and Threatened Mallee Birds.

The position will require strong collaboration with staff across departments, the coordination of activities with multiple stakeholders and engagement with funding agencies and donors to achieve the programs’ goals.

responsibilities include for example:

  • Develop and maintain Conservation Action Plan documents, ensuring they are up to date and relevant;
  • Collaborate with BirdLife Australia’s branches, groups, observatories, affiliates, government agencies, NRMs, Indigenous groups, local government and other relevant stakeholders to determine priorities and facilitate development and implementation of the CAPs;
  • Seek resources, including preparation of grant applications and funding pitches for identified CAP priority projects, to assist the Program Leader (Woodland Birds) in achieving Program objectives and in developing the scale and reach of the Program;
  • Measure and evaluate the success of coordinated implementation of the CAP program for learning and adaptive management;

Location: The position is based in the BirdLife Australia National Office, Melbourne. Alternative locations will be considered based on strategic merit.

Status: This is a part-time (4 days a week) position offered on a 3-year contract. A continuation to the contract after three years would be offered subject to performance and available funding.
