Major Duties

DNV is seeking a Wind Turbine Test Engineer for the Test Engineering section in our downtown Seattle office. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining the project management and technical training systems used in the Test Engineering Section. Additional responsibilities for conducting power performance tests include: project management, field work, data analysis, and technical report writing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, develop and improve the project management systems within Test Engineering section.
• Maintain, develop and improve the technical training and qualification systems within Test Engineering section.
• Procure mechanical sensors, test fixtures, and data acquisition systems for meteorological towers and wind turbines.
• Install and calibrate measurement systems in the field, up to 30% travel.
• Manage subcontractors. 
• Analyze incoming data and report on findings per relevant standards and company practices.
• Troubleshoot issues with data acquisition systems.
• Present a professional company image to clients and vendors.
• Look for opportunities to provide additional services to clients.
• Share knowledge and best practices across DNV units.
• Demonstrate interest and ability to continuously learn.
• Provide timely and professional client communications.
• Execute project scope items, anticipate project issues and develop appropriate resolutions.
• Monitor project cost and schedule.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical or other engineering discipline required or Bachelor’s degree with a scientific background considered 
• Three or more years of power performance testing experience


DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and subcontractors
• Familiarity with wind power engineering
• Familiarity with meteorological measurements or electrical power measurements preferred
• Previous instrumentation experience 
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to work effectively and professionally with diverse people, including clients and co-workers
• Ability to be accountable for tasks and projects assigned to you
• Flexibility and adaptability – as issues and tasks may change quickly
• Familiarity with MS office and ability to learn new software quickly
• Experience with business travel and ability to effectively travel with others
• Experience with Campbell Scientific data acquisition systems is a plus
• First-Aid and/or climbing training a plus 
• Experience with GIS systems and GPS a plus


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to climb towers up to 140 meters tall and perform work at heights 
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time on short notice 
• Must be able to work in confined spaces 
• Must be able to lift 60 lbs
• Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to rent a vehicle
