Wind Turbine Generator Package Manager

Reference: EUR/21/143 (Technical)

Location: Europe - UK - Bristol or Slough

Travel Requirement: Required to travel to Client's offices in UK and Europe.

Role Purpose

GL Garrad Hassan is the world's largest independent technical and engineering consultancy for renewable energy. We are the recognised global authority on onshore and offshore wind power and also serve the wave, tidal and solar sectors.

The purpose of this role is to be the Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) Package Manager for the delivery of the WTG Supply Contract of an offshore Wind Farm. 

The successful candidate will have a strong technical background and will have a demonstrable track record in understanding technical issues, negotiating Contracts and Contract variations and implementing solutions.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Prepare tender documents and run tender competitions for the procurement of Wind Turbine Generator supply and maintenance Contracts.
  • Lead tender negotiations and review Contract documentation.
  • Fill the role of Package Manager to manage the contract package for the delivery of the wind turbine supply contract for Offshore Wind Farms.
  • Carry out commercial and technical review of documents.
  • Interface directly with the Package Managers responsible for the delivery of other Contract Packages to resolve interface issues.
  • Interface directly with the QA/QC Manager to ensure that the quality of all fabricated components is in accordance with the Contract Specification.
  • Provide consultancy advice on a wide range of smaller projects.
  • Develop Technical Notes and Reports suitable for use by the Client to develop the project.

Person Specification

To be successful in this role, and our business, you will need to demonstrate the following qualification, professional expertise and personal attributes:

Technical / Professional Expertise

Essential:

  • BSc, BEng or higher in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering. (Equivalent commercial or management qualifications may be considered where the candidate can demonstrate relevant knowledge of the technical aspects of the role).
  • Chartered status via MICE, MIStructE or MIMechE or equivalent.
  • Excellent ability to prepare, review and submit technical documents relating to wind turbine generator performance, operation or maintenance..
  • Experience of a wind power project through the procurement, fabrication, construction and installation phases.
  • Good general understanding of electrical, SCADA and structural aspects.
  • Experience of commercial processes from drafting of the technical aspects of Invitation to Tender documentation and contracts to preparing paperwork for Contract Variations.

Desirable:

  • German language skills would be advantageous..
  • Post graduate qualification in renewable energy.
  • Experience of working in the offshore environment for the renewable energy and/or oil and gas industries would be preferred.
  • Previous experience of other marine engineering, such as sea/sand defences, docks or harbours

Competency Requirements

  • A high standard of written and oral skills.
  • Excellent ability to liaise with clients, conduct contract negotiations and lead meetings.
