Mainstream Renewable Power South Africa, a renewable energy development company, is a joint venture between Mainstream Renewable Power, based in Dublin and a local South African company Genesis Eco-Energy. Our operations are based in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Our core business is to develop, build and operate renewable energy plants thereby helping to build a sustainable future – globally and locally. We are seeking skilled and motivated individuals to join our team.

As a Development Manager, you will be responsible for all areas of wind and solar power project development. This includes initial site identification and assessment, lease negotiations, ensuring grid connection options, researching & managing environmental issues and all consenting processes, liaising with the regulatory authorities, securing all necessary permits through to construction ready phase.

To qualify, you need:

  • Degree in Engineering, Energy, Business or Environment
  • Strong Project Management skills and preferably commercial project development experience in renewable energy / power generation
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • To be comfortable presenting to management and external stakeholders
  • Ability to use Microsoft software as well as specialist software packages such as GIS, AutoCAD, MS Project and SharePoint
  • Fluency in English and one other official South African language is essential
  • Valid drivers’ license ? Able to travel throughout South Africa.

Recommendation: Experience and understanding of the SA electricity transmission system is a strong advantage. Ability to work with the electrical grid utility to develop transmission grid connection plans, supervise grid studies and secure grid connection agreements.
