Mainstream Renewable Power is currently recruiting for a Wind Analyst to support Mainstream’s development programme in South Africa, Europe and The Middle East. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the global Energy Analysis Group, based in our London office. This position would suit a highly numerate and computer-literate candidate. This position will require extensive international travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of the collection and quality control of meteorological data to ensure maximum data coverage.
  • Developing turbine layout designs for project sites.
  • Production of internal wind and energy production estimates.
  • Communication of site specific energy production and site conditions to project teams.
  • Management of the installation, maintenance and decommissioning of temporary meteorological masts and solar measurement stations.
  • Developing site specific measurement campaigns.
  • Developing, implementing, and managing security plans for meteorological masts and solar measurement stations.
  • Ensuring mast contractors comply with relevant safety and technical requirements.

The successful candidate will also play a key role in the development of procedures and assessment techniques of existing and new renewable energy technologies within the Energy Analysis Group.

Skills

  • Graduate with an honours engineering or physical science degree.
  • Preferably 1 years experience in wind resource assessment.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Capable of analysing large datasets; experience in data bases and programming in VBA advantage.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
  • Experience in the use of GIS, WAsP, WindFarmer, or other related resource assessment software is an advantage.
  • Experience in MS Office especially Word, Excel and Access.
  • Experience in Excel VBA and Access VBA an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical colleagues are essential.
  • Additional languages are a distinct advantage.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to sites which are in generally remote areas.
  • Full driver’s licence.
  • Motivated and self-starter attitude essential.
