Airtricity is the renewable energy development division of Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE).  The company has responsibility for the development of onshore and offshore wind farms in the UK, Ireland, Europe and Asia as well as developing hydro and marine projects.

We are seeking to recruit a Wind Analyst to join our Central Analysis Team. The successful candidate will be an active member of the Airtricity Resource Assessment Team. The services provided will be for all regions that Airtricity is active in; therefore the post will also support all other wind analysts in the Resource Assessment teams.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Internal electricity production estimates and management of subcontracted analyses;
  • Auditing wind measurements from potential acquisition sites;
  • Internal site condition assessments and management of subcontracted analyses;
  • Development of methods and QA procedures for the Resource Assessment department, including internal analysis tools
  • Training of other members of the Resource Assessment team
  • Contributing to research activities in wind, wave and tidal resource assessment

The successful candidate should have the following skills and experience:

  • A good engineering/physical science degree or equivalent
  • Experience in the field of wind resource assessment is preferable
  • Strong analytical skills and be very comfortable with IT
  • Ability to balance attention to detail with engineering judgment  
  • High levels of energy and motivation
  • Have a capability to communicate clearly to other specialists and professionals who are not from a technology background
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent written English
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
