Mainstream Renewable Power is a renewable energy development company with operations in North America, South America, South Africa, UK offshore and Germany offshore. Our core business is to develop, build and operate renewable energy plants thereby helping to build a sustainable future – globally and locally. We are seeking skilled and motivated individuals to join our Development team.

Responsibilities

The Project Developer is responsible for supporting and overseeing the development of wind and solar projects in Ontario and other potential jurisdictions in Canada. The key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Managing the project schedules and budgets to meet internal targets
  • Leading site selection process for Greenfield and potential acquisition opportunities
  • Acquiring land leases for Greenfield opportunities and maintaining relationships with landowners for existing projects
  • Leading environmental assessment campaigns and managing external consultants
  • Applying for and obtaining planning permits at all levels of government
  • Directing the wind resource management campaigns and energy production estimates
  • Leading the grid interconnection process and managing external consultants
  • Interfacing with internal technical services such as energy analysis, engineering and asset delivery
  • Determining the financial viability of projects together with the corporate finance department
  • Leading the energy off-take process for each project depending on the market conditions (e.g. public request for proposals or private power purchase agreements)
  • Representing the company at regional industry association meetings and caucuses

 Qualifications

  • Relevant university degree or college diploma
  • Minimum of 5 years related work experience in the power industry
  • Solid understanding of the development process of major power projects
  • Technical understanding of power projects and preferably, wind energy
  • Excellent project management skills with a highly organised approach
  • Excellent written and oral communications and presentation skills
  • Excellent inter-personal qualities with the ability to present to management at all levels as well as fostering relationships with landowners, government officials, and consultants
  • Fluency in English is essential
