Description

Location: Rindge, NH

30 hours/week from January 23-May 18.
Full time in a residential setting at camp through August 31. 

Assume a strong leadership role within the Wildwood team. Develop educational programs at Wildwood for overnight and family camps in accordance with Mass Audubon’s goals and objectives. Ensure that all aspects of Wildwood program meet or exceed MAS, state of NH and American Camp Association standards. Assist with promotion and marketing of Wildwood programs; participate in camp fairs and job fairs. Assist with hiring and training of seasonal staff. Perform a variety of administrative duties, including some of which may be complex or confidential in nature.

Program and Staff Development

  1. Take a leadership role in developing camp programs for all aspects of the Wildwood summer program, including lesson plans for all Interest Group and Discovery Group programs.
  2. Ensure that all programs and program areas meet or exceed MAS, State of New Hampshire and American Camp Association standards.
  3. Assist in developing summer session schedules and staffing schedules.
  4. Assist in developing staff training materials and staff manual.
  5. Work closely with Wildwood Director in training seasonal Wildwood staff.

Wildwood Camper and Staff Recruitment

  1. Manage the recruitment, interviews and hiring of Wildwood seasonal staff.
  2. Attend MAS sanctuary info sessions, camp fairs, and other promotional events to assist with camper recruitment.
  3. Assist with spring open house events at Wildwood and participate in other promotional events.

Other Duties

  1. Participate regularly and actively in departmental and interdepartmental meetings as requested to develop creative ideas and resources related to the educational programs.
  2. Maintain files and records and reply to routine correspondence.
  3. Prepare ad hoc reports and other materials.
  4. Other duties as requested.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years relevant experience in administration of organized camping/environmental education programs. Desire and ability to work as part of a dynamic team in an outdoor/camp setting. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Computer skills in areas such as word processing and spreadsheets. Strong commitment to high degree of customer service. Certification in Community First Aid and CPR. Ability to respond effectively to emergencies on the property. Valid driver’s license.
