Job Description:
WCS Gabon provides technical support to the Gabonese government on an array of conservation ac-tivities. WCS Gabon's aircraft (Cessna 182) is a highly valuable tool for undertaking wildlife surveys and conservation monitoring to provide information to help orientate the Gabon Government's wild-life law enforcement and protection activities. WCS is currently recruiting for the position of Wildlife Survey/Surveillance Pilot. 

The role includes 1) organisation and undertaking aerial surveys for wildlife monitoring within and around Gabon's national parks (terrestrial and marine); 2) collaboration with ANPN/MINEF/DGPA to conduct aerial surveys for monitoring human threats and impacts to support the Gabonese govern-ment's law enforcement efforts on the ground 3) assuring sound operations, management, piloting and maintenance of the WCS aircraft. The position also includes some reporting, budgeting and fundraising for the activities. The wildlife/surveillance pilot will be based out of Libreville, Gabon, with regular travel within the country. The pilot reports to the WCS-Gabon country director. The position will entail direct aviation related duties as well as additional technical conservation related responsi-bilities to be defined based upon the skill set of the successful candidate. 

Experience:
Qualifications: Current US FAA pilot licence, at least 400 hours PIC flying experience, strong knowl-edge of FAA regulations and aircraft maintenance requirements. Experience with wildlife surveys and bush flying in remote areas. Forest and coastal area flight experience beneficial. Additional conserva-tion related technical skills and knowledge such as GIS, remote sensing, aerial photogra-phy/filming, wildlife protection monitoring, etc. highly desirable. Strong commitment to conserva-tion. Ability to work under extreme field conditions. Working French and English language skills.
