Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and inspiring wildlife ranger to look after some of the most biodiverse areas for wildlife in Scotland.

As our Perthshire Ranger, based at the popular Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Reserve and Visitor Centre, you will assist the Reserve Manager to manage five of our important woodland and grassland sites in Highland Perthshire.  To help maintain nature’s balance you will survey their habitats and species and take part in practical conservation tasks.

Equally important will be your key role in running ‘Operation Osprey’ to co-ordinate the protection of a pair of ospreys returning from wintering grounds in West Africa to breed in this part of Scotland.  Connecting with our visitors, local communities, members and supporters you will strengthen an already special relationship and bring people and wildlife together.

Applicants must be educated to HNC or equivalent in a discipline related to nature conservation, and be able to demonstrate experience in a similar role.  A passion for wider nature conservation along with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills are essential.  You must also have a full driving licence and be able to take up weekend/flexible working hours at particular times of the year, and especially during the osprey breeding season.

Closing date:   Friday 13th November 2015 (at 12 noon)

Interviews:       Friday 20th November 2015
