The Humane Society of The United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization is seeking a Wildlife Protection Coordinator for the Wildlife Protection department. The main responsibility of this position is to assist the department to achieve its public policy and campaign goals and provide general administrative support..

This position will be responsible for:

  • Providing logistical coordination, and support, as needed, for the department to achieve campaign goals. This includes but is not limited to engagement with grassroots advocates, policymakers, and other stakeholders and tracking legislative and regulatory efforts;
  • Researching and developing campaign materials related to assigned wildlife programs which may include factsheets, background materials, policy reforms, education and outreach materials, and other materials as requested;
  • Lobbying local and state elected public officials and their offices to pass positive legislation or reject harmful legislation;
  • Monitoring and understanding opposition publications, positions, and tactics;
  • Responding to member and non-member inquires on wildlife issues and assist with other projects needs as assigned;

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in social/natural science or related field, or equivalent work experience;
  • Minimum one year of experience in public policy or campaign implementation required;
  • Strong organizational and campaign skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency in MS Office;
  • Some knowledge of policy-making and legislative process preferred;
