Wildlife Forensic Cell.- Research Associate

Project Title, details of position and duration	Wildlife Forensic Cell. (01 –Research Associate) Duration: Up to 31.03.2014 (Likely to be extended)
Essential Qualification	Ph.D. Degree in Life Science/Biological Science/Zoology.
Desirable Qualification	Working experience in electrophoresis and molecular genetics using PCR based techniques, PCR-RFLP and DNA sequencing/developing species specific characteristics. Good knowledge in biostatistics and multivariate techniques for use in DNA and animal genetics. Any other academic qualification related to work.
Description of Work	To work under the supervision of Nodal Officer, Wildlife Forensic Cell for developing DNA based techniques and protocol for dealing wildlife forensic cases. To prepare protocol for identifying species from biological materials seized under wildlife offences. Establish liaison with national and international forensic laboratories. To provide scientific input and assistance in organizing workshop(s) by WII and other organizations. To maintain proper record and files of all wildlife forensic cases. To prepare annual requirement of equipment, glassware, chemicals, plastic ware and maintain proper stock entries. To collect reference samples, and any other work assigned by the Nodal Officer, Wildlife Forensic Cell.

GENERALTERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Candidate(s) possessing Master’s Degree along with final year mark-sheet will be eligible to appear for the walk-in-interview. Candidates appearing in the final year of Masters’ Degree Program will not be eligible to apply for the advertised positions.

2. A candidate may be allowed to submit duly filled-in application form(s) for a maximum of two advertised positions subject to his/her fulfilling the essential qualifications for the advertised positions. Applications without enclosures and/or incomplete in any respect shall be rejected.  

3. Age of the candidate shall not be more than 28 years for JRF; 30 years for Project Biologist and 32 yearsfor SRF as on Monday, 5^th August 2013. Upper age limit for SRF, JRF may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically handicapped categories.

4. Candidate for the position of Research Associate (RA) should be below 40 years of age as on Monday, 5^thAugust 2013 and the upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.

5. The fellowship amount for the selected Research Associate (RA-I) will be ` 22,000/- consolidated per month.

6. The fellowship amount for the selected Senior Research Fellow is Rs. 14,000/- consolidated per month and Rs. 18,000/- in case of NET qualified candidate(s) for Research Fellows (UGC/CSIR).

7. Selected candidate(s) for the advertised position of JRF will be paid a consolidated emolument of Rs. 12,000/- per month as fellowship. In case of NET qualified candidates (UGC/CSIR) for Research Fellows, the selected JRF will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 16,000/- per month.

8. The fellowship amount for the selected Project Biologist is Rs. 16,000/- consolidated per month.

9. Selected candidate(s) will be engaged initially for a period mentioned against each advertised position. Subsequently his/her tenure may be extended depending upon the exigencies of work at sole discretion of the Institute and satisfactory performance of the candidate.

10. Candidate(s) may be allowed hostel accommodation at the institute, as per availability. Where the hostel accommodation is not possible, house rent allowance (HRA) will be paid as per the rules of the Institute. Other allowances and benefits to the research personnel would be admissible as per the rules of the Institute, amended from time to time.

11. The selection of the candidate(s) will be based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on Wednesday, 7^th August 2013 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. The registration will begin by 09:00 A.M. onwards.

12. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature.

13. Candidate(s) should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, extra curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration.

14. One way travel expenses will be paid to the candidate, selected for the project. The expense will be limited to actual 2^nd class rail/bus fare by the shortest route from his/her place of stay/residence.

15. The Institute will not provide accommodation for candidates appearing for the interview.
