Wildlife Assistant - up to 6 months fixed term contract

Salary: £13,362 - £13,971 per annum

Allowances: 6 per cent unsocial hours premium

Hours: 35 hours per week (7 day roster)

The RSPCA, the world’s largest and oldest animal welfare organisation, is looking for a Wildlife Assistant to join the team at Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, working for the rehabilitation of wild animal casualties and their integration back to the wild.
(This post is a fixed term position for a period of up to 6 months.)

The main responsibilities of the post include:

Admitting, caring for, preparing for release, releasing and monitoring wildlife casualties according to the standard procedures and protocols of the centre.

Accurately recording information and assisting in the collation of statistics.

Carrying out all care and rehabilitation procedures, as defined in the centre protocols, for the benefit of injured wildlife.

The successful applicant should have:

• Fieldwork skills such as identification of mammals and mammal tracks
• Bird identification skills
• Wild animal handling experience
• Good communication skills
• Driving licence
• Some experience of working in a wildlife rehabilitation centre, veterinary practice or animal care centre preferred.
