Job Title: Wilder Wellbeing Officer

Maternity cover, 30 hours per week (4 days per week or flexible working)

Closing Date: Tuesday 8th August 2023

Interview Date: Monday 21st August 2023 at Tyland Barn

Salary: £19,200 - £21,600 per annum (FTE - £24,000 - £27,000)

Based at: Tyland Barn, Maidstone, travel will be required as needed

We are unable to recruit anyone who does not have a right to work in the UK.

Globally and nationally wildlife is in steep decline. We appear to be reaching critical tipping points around the loss of biodiversity as well as around climate change, both being interlinked. Human society cannot prosper without wildlife and healthy ecosystems.

Kent’s wildlife needs to be restored to much higher levels. We can no longer allow common things to become rare. We can only do this by restoring large-scale natural habitat areas and processes. Doing this will contribute to solving global problems. But we won’t be able to do this unless we publicly aspire to a higher level of impact and show that we can deliver this.

Kent Wildlife Trust is the leading wildlife charity for Kent and Medway, supported by its members and staffed by committed professionals.  Join our team and help us create a Wilder Kent! In return we will inspire you, listen to you, value you, treat you equally and fairly, look after your health and wellbeing and encourage flexibility from day one, enabling you to draw on these benefits to be a better, happier and more productive you.

The Job:

This role will be developing new and existing wellbeing programmes, initiatives and schemes using nature-based interventions. Your role is to co-ordinate, organise and fund these programmes, across the county, developing strong relationships with various stakeholders. It requires someone who is passionate about connecting people with nature through a variety of wellbeing practices, supporting us in our aim to engage with 25% of the population in Kent, helping to tackle the nature and climate crises.

You:

You are highly personable, passionate and organised. You are equally comfortable working with adults experiencing mental health or physical conditions as you are engaging with funders, social prescribers and other stakeholders. You are a confident and clear communicator with experience of supporting wellbeing, using nature-based interventions. You have a passion for wildlife and the environment and want to help us achieve our vision for a Wilder Kent. You have the energy and creativity to think of new and impressive ideas to develop our provision.

Please read the job description for the full person specification.

Appointment is dependent upon a satisfactory DBS check.
