Based  at Tyland Barn, Maidstone, but we have an agile working policy where staff can work from home, office or other agreed remote location.

As Kent Wildlife Trust strives to deliver a Wilder Kent, robust biodiversity data is essential in evidencing our conservation decisions and to influence the decisions of others who have the potential to affect the natural environment. The Wilder Landscapes GIS and Remote Sensing Officer will work within the Conservation Evidence Team, supporting both the Wilder Landscapes and other project teams to ensure the spatial data and analytical needs of the Conservation Department are met. You will strive to ensure that Kent Wildlife Trust are seen as leaders in the field of monitoring and evidence in Kent and beyond. The primary focus of this role will be on supporting Wilder Landscapes and other projects, including wilding (e.g. Wilder Blean), species introduction and recovery (e.g. chough, heath fritillary, pine marten, turtle dove, wartbiter), nature-based solutions (catchment resilience, farmer clusters, beaver, carbon sequestration, nutrient neutrality), and the Nature Recovery Network for Kent. Please see our website for further details about our work.

You:  The successful applicant will have an excellent understanding & demonstrable experience of using GIS, including modelling, (ArcGIS and QGIS ideally), substantial experience of using UAV and satellite remote sensing approaches, good interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrable ability to work as part of a close, multidisciplinary team, excellent skills in data analysis and reporting, and a demonstrable understanding of ecology and nature conservation.

Kent Wildlife Trust is the leading wildlife charity for Kent and Medway, supported by its members and staffed by committed professionals.  We are all working to protect wildlife and to find better ways to run an efficient and effective organisation.
