Description

The Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (NAONB) is an

upland landscape on the eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales www.nidderdaleaonb.org.uk We have been awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to support an innovative three-year programme called The Wild Watch. The project is designed to collect and analyse data on species of conservation concern. The data will be used to drive Habitat Suitability Models that will act as the foundation for species conservation action plans.

We are looking for a talented and committed individual to take on the role of project officer. The role will suit an experienced nature conservation professional with a passion for natural history alongside a sound scientific understanding and a commitment to public engagement. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the Wild Watch project that will lay the foundations of a landscape-scale species recovery programme in the AONB. By the end of the project, the Project Officer will also have mobilised a new and diverse generation of naturalists and volunteer conservationists who will be instrumental in the next phase of the work to rebuild fragmented ecological networks across NAONB.      

The Wild Watch Project Officer will be based in NAONB’s office in Pateley Bridge alongside other staff working on natural and cultural heritage projects with a wide range of partners including farmers and landowners, the local community, third sector bodies, Defra Network Organisations and local authorities.
