Wetland Songbirds Seasonal Field Biologist

Field Biologist needed for a study of mercury exposure and reproductive success in Songbirds. Duties will include monitoring of Tree Swallow and Carolina Wren nest boxes, searching for natural nests of Carolina wrens, mist-netting, banding and collecting blood and feather samples from passerines breeding along selected rivers and in marshes in New Jersey. Radio telemetry will be used to track Carolina Wrens to their nesting locations. Bird capture will be conducted primarily with a company vehicle, though some areas may require kayaking/canoeing/operating a small motor boat. 

Qualifications: BA or BS in relevant field (wildlife biology, wildlife management, etc.).  Must have extensive experience mist-netting/banding passerines, ability to collect blood, identify species, sex and age birds in hand. In addition, must be skilled in attaching radio transmitters to songbirds. Preference will be given to candidates with extensive bird bleeding and radio telemetry experience.  Must be in good physical shape and have a valid driver’s license.

This position also requires the ability to work independently and may involve interactions with the public/land owners and with other biologists. Housing and a vehicle will be provided. Salary: $500-550/week. Dates of employment: ~March 20 through end of July 2016. Exact dates to be determined.

Billing and Budget Manager

The primary source of revenue for BRI is federal, state and industry contracts and funding agreements. The billing and budget manager is responsible for the submission of invoices per contract requirements and client communication to ensure timely payments; updating/reconciliation of revenue and budget spreadsheets and assistance with cash flow forecasting; and contract compliance duties including tracking and submission of required contract documentation for purposes of billing.
