Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Wetland Restoration Officer to join our team in a valued and varied role, based at the Forestry Commission office in Lyndhurst, Hampshire. You’ll play a key part in planning and delivering stream and mire restoration projects in the New Forest.  These are part of the largest wetland restoration project of its type in Europe.

You will bring to the team a good track record of designing and preparing practical wetland restoration plans. Your specialist knowledge of stream hydro-geomorphic and ecological processes will contribute to the success of these projects. You’ll continue our work of building positive relationships with partner organisations and local communities to successfully deliver projects to improve the quality of habitats and restore the physical functions of the river systems. Joining us, you will enjoy great scope to develop your current skills and experience in both restoration work and community engagement.

The mission of Forestry Commission England is to care for the nation’s woodlands and other special habitats. We protect and expand forests and woodlands, and increase their value to society and the environment. Our 46,000 hectare South Forest District contains a wide variety of habitats including wetlands, which are Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Joining our Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) team, you will deliver a range of SSSI habitat restoration and maintenance programmes.

If you share our passion and enthusiasm for improving the nation’s designated habitats, we need you on our team.To find out more and apply, please click on the link below.
