Description

WildAid is seeking a manager for its West and Central Africa programs. The candidate must be fluent in written and spoken French and English, and ideally have experience working in Francophone Africa. Media/communications skills and wildlife conservation experience desirable.

 The job will be for a three month initial trial period, with a one-year contract and the possibility of extension if successful.

Tasks: 

  1. Work with consultant and Parks authorities to coordinate and oversee production and placement of video and billboard materials in Gabon.
  2. Research, develop and initiate wildlife protection communication campaigns in urban areas of selected West African countries (most likely CAR, Cameroon, Benin).
  3. Visit the countries to make contact with relevant government agencies, US, EU and Chinese embassies, partners, local NGOs, international conservation NGOs. Establish partner relationships.
  4. Identify key opportunities, influential ambassadors, partner institutions, and media partners in each country.
  5. Develop plans and proposals for each country.
  6. Manage production and distribution of video, radio, billboard and social media materials, as well as other communication campaign activities.
  7. Explore distribution to communities surrounding protected areas and to human/wildlife conflict project areas.
  8. Explore working with logging and other private sector partners to reduce poaching.
  9. Work with local pangolin rehabilitation projects for education.
