Description

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver conservation action at a landscape-scale in the West Midlands for the Wood White, one of the UK’s most threatened butterflies. You will be responsible for coordinating habitat management, volunteer training and public events across four different landscapes in Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire. You will bring an understanding of woodland habitat management combined with the ability to engage with land managers, volunteers and the public.

You will develop and implement a programme of events to involve local communities in wildlife conservation, providing new opportunities for people to explore the wildlife-rich habitats on their doorstep, participate in wildlife recording and help with active habitat management.  Working with land managers, project partners and volunteers you will coordinate targeted management across woodland sites in the four landscapes, creating the conditions necessary for this butterfly to thrive alongside a range of other wildlife that share its habitat.

Good knowledge of butterflies and moths, habitat management and landscape-scale conservation, experience of working with landowners, site managers and volunteers, and excellent communication skills are essential.

This post is part-funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Closing date for applications: noon on Wednesday 24th February 2016.

Interviews will be held at Worcestershire Wildlife Trust’s offices near Worcester on Thursday 3rd March 2016.
