BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership. Through our unique local-to-global approach, we deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people.
BirdLife is seeking to recruit an experienced individual for the position of Communication Officer for West Africa region to assist develop and implement the communication, education and public awareness strategy and action plan for the Coastal Migratory Birds Project (CMB Phase 2) and strengthen communication and advocacy capacity of partners in West Africa within the framework of Coastal Migratory Birds project (CMB2) funded by MAVA Foundation.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Experience in communication preferably in the conservation sector with track record of producing high-quality communications outputs.
• A degree in journalism, media, communication or other relevant field. An additional qualification in the field of conservation and experience related to training would be an advantage.
• Proven knowledge of working effectively across a range of media platforms
• Good organizational and planning skills, with motivation and ability to adhere to deadlines, ability to work with diverse sectors.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Flexibility, adaptability and ability to work independently.
• Good computer skills including the use of internet, social media and web design;
• Fluency in oral and written French and English, speaking Portuguese will be advantageous
