Greenpeace International needs someone to look after our international website - ensure good usability, SEO, information architecture, optimized recruitment and donation pages, plus content that's both inspiring and fit for purpose. You'll be part of a cross discipline team. Should be able to work collaboratively, but have a strong sense of ownership. Do broken links bother you? Does poor UX design make you twitch? Do you find yourself saying thinks like, "Whoa, look at that information architecture train wreck. We've gotta fix that!" Do you love data, and using it to make things better? We hope so because we need someone just like you to keep the Greenpeace International website in order.

To ensure the accuracy, consistency, functionality, and effectiveness of the Greenpeace International website in line with Greenpeace organisational and campaign objectives and within the Unit budget in order to ensure the effective development and implementation of online engagement strategies that contribute to achieving specific campaign and organisation objectives.

  • Within the priorities set out by the Head of Digital Networking and Mobilisation, ensure that the content of the international website and its mobile version are accurate, that the integrity of links are maintained, that javascript and Flash elements are functional.
  • In cooperation with the Communications Managers, regularly review and, when necessary, rebuild the issues information sections of the website with content provided by the Communications Managers to ensure a close integration with current communications strategies.
  • Provide one to one and task-specific training in the Planet interface for Greenpeace staff to supplement basic trainings provided by the Global Support staff
  • Report bugs and technical issues to the Global Support team and work through the Head of Digital Mobilisation and Networking with the IT Department and the Digital Product Program to create improved back-end functionality, improved work-flow and better usability and front-end functionality for the site
  • Monitor and analyse error reports, relevant traffic and conversion rates on an ongoing basis and report these metrics on a regular basis to the mobilisation team, fundraisers, and other organisational stakeholders as determined by the Head of Digital Networking and Mobilisation
  • Conduct polling, focus group, heat map analysis and other means of assessing usability and audience satisfaction with the site, ensure ongoing work development is part of an iterative test-improve-test process and maintain shared documentation of that process with the global organisation.
  • At least 5 years experience as web master or content manager
  • Knowledge of website marketing and search engine optimization technologies
  • Knowledge of internet culture and close familiarity with the tools and landscape of the online world
  • Knowledge and experience of web design, HTML, CSS, Javascript, RSS, and other relevant web technologies
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and to meet tight deadlines, including a flexible mindset regarding working hours.

Helpful:

  • Experience in one or more major web analytics packages
  • Relevant experience in environmental studies or environmental activism
  • Language skills beyond English
  • Graphic design abilities and knowledge of animation, typography, photo editing, and illustration programmes.
