Cambridge, salary in the range of £25,000 – 28,000 (plus generous pension contribution).

We need an experienced individual to manage the delivery and maintenance of BirdLife’s web sites, and to be the main contact for both its internal and external relations.

Locacted at BirdLife’s Global Secretariat office in Cambridge, UK you will be based in the Communications Division and report to the Head of Communications. As a core member of the newly created Web Development Team you will not only deliver innovative web strategy but also lead on its implentation.

This post is BirdLife’s first full time web position and offers the new post holder the chance to have high levels of influence and independence in a leading international environmental charity.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Understanding of development environments, and hands-on web development knowledge; recent experience in some of the following: HTML, CSS, PHP, ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript, MVC, LINQ, XSLT
  • Understanding of web database delivery and integration; knowledge of MySQL MS SQL, and Postgres would be advantageous.
  • Substantial web/new media knowledge and expertise
  • Strong and demonstrable background in building, maintaining and developing websites, preferably large-scale ones
  • Significant project management and internal communications skills and experience
  • Ability to take a proactive approach to website development with experience in its planning, development, operation and implementation
  • Creativity and good analytical skills
