The World Land Trust is an international conservation organisation which takes direct action to save rainforest and other threatened habitats. Its website is the major way the organisation communicates with its supporters, corporate sponsors and individual donors.  The Web Development Officer will be responsible developing the front end elements of the CMS ensuring that the WLT continues to deliver a vibrant, coherent and consistent web experience to current and potential new supporters.

The candidate will need to have good web knowledge and expertise, and will have a track record in constructing, maintaining and developing a CMS website.

The candidate must be excited by new technologies and aware of future trends to ensure that the Trust can continue to develop a website that fulfills the requirements of the trust as well as the end user experience.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person who can not only use their skills to develop a website, but also wants to use their knowledge to help the WLT carry out their globally important conservation work.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Creating/developing new areas of website to ensure Trust requirements are met.
  • Adding new features/functionality to the site to help improve user experience through the sites look and usability.
  • Design and styling of website and online graphics using fireworks and Photoshop ensuring design is in line with WLT branding.
  • Checking content created by other Drupal users & provide support to Head of Digital Communications
  • Updating Drupal site/modules.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Dealing with change requests as and when required.

Skills

  • HTML5 and CSS
  • Drupal
  • Adobe Suite (Dreamweaver/Fireworks/Photoshop)
  • Git version control
  • PHP (desirable)
  • Understanding of best practise methods for frontend development for SEO

Person specification

  • Good communication skills. Being able to explain technical information to a non-technical  people.
  • Experience in delivering responsive design.
  • Confident in testing the sites performance across browsers and mobile devices
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise work schedules.
  • Familiarity with the charitable sector would be an advantage’ an interest in wildlife conservation and the work of WLT is expected.

The post is full time (35 hours per week), based in the World Land Trust’s headquarters in Halesworth, Suffolk.
