Starting Salary Range: £35,000 – £42,000 plus generous benefits package

Established in 1987, SustainAbility is a think tank and strategy consultancy working with corporate decision makers to achieve transformative leadership on the sustainability agenda. Our small, diverse team works globally from offices in London, New Delhi, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team as a Web and Digital Media Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for efficient, effective outbound communications and the oversight and maintenance of SustainAbility’s website. This position will also contribute to the strategic evolution of the website’s technical capabilities and SustainAbility’s overall online identity.

 

Dissemination of SustainAbility’s agenda-setting research and insight, and contributing to the strategic direction and effectiveness of communications

  • Managing the marketing of SustainAbility’s consulting services, identifying key audience groups for communications via website, social media and email newsletters
  • Work with team members to produce new website, social media and newsletter content
  • Contribute to planning and execution of major strategic communication campaigns
  • Create consistent messaging material for multiple purposes
  • Ensure basic quality control of all public communications
  • Oversee basic marketing of events and workshops (3-5 a year)

Oversight, maintenance and enhancement of the SustainAbility website and related digital footprint

  • Oversee social media presence, user and content management, comment moderation, etc.
  • Produce, edit and optimize online multimedia content including video, animation and webinars
  • Select and edit custom or stock imagery to accompany online posts and publications
  • Manage relationships with key vendors

Strategic evolution of the SustainAbility website’s technical capabilities and increase overall online identity and presence

  • Direct ongoing technical development of sustainability.com and related web properties
  • Create and manage social media strategies and activities to increase engagement with key audiences online
  • Plan and execute search-engine optimisation (SEO) strategies

 

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Communications, Graphic Design or a related discipline
  • At least three years experience as a professional Web Manager or Marketing Manager
  • In-depth knowledge of website CMS and database systems
  • In-depth knowledge of major website management tools including Google Analytics, Google Webmaster, Feedburner
  • Prior experience in search engine optimization (SEO), implementing successful social media campaigns, and targeting web content to mobile devices such as smart phones
  • Advanced knowledge of key web technologies/standards including HTML,DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, SQL and Ajax, and familiarity with (and/or willingness to learn) Kohana PHP development framework
  • Prior experience with multimedia design/production software including Adobe Creative Suite and ScreenFlow
  • Familiarity with distributed version control systems such as Subversion or Git
  • Self-starter with drive and an ability to follow through without supervision prioritizing multiple tasks and delivering to deadlines
  • Enthusiastic team player, with a positive, proactive attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a keen attention to detail
