Description
Operations Catchment Services (OCS) are looking for a very experienced Water Quality Specialist with expertise in water quality planning and a natural ability to provide technical leadership across OCS and relevant Area teams. As well as having significant experience in water quality planning, it would be desirable if you had expertise in water quality modelling. Not essential, but it would be very attractive to us if you can provide expertise in both marine and freshwater environments.

As a technical leader in Operations, this role will focus on the needs of our internal customers, overseeing a priority portfolio of work, and effective ways of working across water quality. The ability to develop, maintain, and share technical expertise to improve knowledge, capability, and resilience of others will be a key attribute of the successful candidate
The role will sit in one of three Water Quality Teams within Operations Catchment Services (formerly known as The River Basin Management Service). The Deputy Director for OCS is Phil Lodge. OCS is part of a large department in Operations called Regulation Monitoring and Customer, which is headed by Bernie Carr, Director of Operations.
You will have in-depth, extensive and high-profile experience of providing water quality expertise and advice. You will be highly capable in managing a portfolio of work and the contribution and wellbeing of others.

Essential: A degree in a relevant environmental discipline
Essential: Membership of or working towards a relevant professional institute membership (e.g. CIWEM)
Desirable: A post graduate degree (MSc or PhD) in a relevant discipline
Desirable: Chartered status (e.g. CEnv)
