Seasonal Interns – Hudson River Estuary Program

New Paltz, NY

The New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC)  seeks  interns to work with the Hudson River Estuary Management Program Fisheries Unit in New Paltz, NY.  The interns will work to assist with fishery dependent and independent sampling programs to assess spawning stocks of river herring species in the Hudson River.  Primary responsibilities include deployment and retrieval of many types of large fishing gear, operation of boats, fish identification and enumeration, collection of biological and water quality data.

The successful candidate will have a minimum 3 years towards a Bachelors Degree in the Environmental Sciences or related field; course work in environmental studies, biology, chemistry and limnology a plus.   Fisheries or aquatic sampling experience preferred.  Microsoft Suite Programs required.  All positions are paid positions, 37.5 hours per week; three openings are for approximately 6 months, one for 3 months.
