Description

Ecology Action is seeking a professional, highly organized, and detail-oriented Water Efficiency Field Specialist to support implementation of a water and energy efficiency program with Albertsons Companies.  The program will implement water/energy retrofit projects at store locations in the Pacific Northwest. The Water Efficiency Field Specialist will be the program's on-site representative at approximately 95 stores in the program's pilot. Major job responsibilities include visiting sites, taking pre and post measurements, performing installations, instructing on-site staff in the benefits/operation of the measures, and preparing water/energy savings analysis for weekly/monthly reports.  The position is entirely field-based and is subject to ongoing funding. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with home office for scheduling and logistics regarding pilot store visits.
  • Safely drive to store locations.
  • Professionally engage with store managers and staff.
  • Measure water flow rates at all store sinks, both front and back of house.
  • Accurately assess the use-appropriate aerator flow for installation.
  • Perform installations of faucet aerators, pre-rinse spray valves, and touchpoint signage.
  • Record all installed measures in on-line reporting systems.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of equipment carried and installed.
  • Coordinate with Albertsons maintenance staff and contractors as needed.
  • Deliver on-site instruction regarding the benefits and operation of the installed measures.
  • Assist in the data collection and aggregation of all client-required and internal reporting.
  • Analyze and produce reports on water/energy savings.
  • Identify site-specific innovative technologies and delivery approaches.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned to meet department and company goals.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Valid Class C driver's license, a reliable personal vehicle, and current automobile insurance.
  • Handy with plumbing tools, including experience with or aptitude for using open-end wrenches, crescent wrenches, pipe wrenches, channel lock pliers along with rubber gaskets and Teflon tape to be able to accomplish equipment installations.
  • Ability to work, schedule your day, set goals, and fulfill daily requirements with minimal or no supervision.
  • Experience engaging with clients and subcontractors on trade-related projects. Successful candidate must be capable of functioning independently in managing relationships with clients and subcontractors.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing direct installation projects on-time and within budget.
  • Strong understanding of water efficiency and/or energy efficiency measures and technologies for commercial buildings, as well as delivery strategies for retrofits.
  • Project management and control fundamentals (work plan, schedule, resourcing and budget management).
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to use standard MS Office products, particularly MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with standard cost-effectiveness analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with standard evaluation measurement and verification processes.

Desired Qualifications

  • Water conservation knowledge.
  • Experience implementing water efficiency and/or energy efficiency programs.
  • Experience using database programs such as Salesforce.
  • Familiarity with commercial plumbing.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear, and use a computer keyboard and monitor. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  The employee must regularly travel significant distances by air and automobile. and install plumbing fixtures using their hands.

Work Environment: The work environment is primarily in the field, particularly both the front and back of house at retail grocery locations, which may expose an individual to fumes, airborne particles, loud noise levels, and unpleasant odors.  During the work week, lodging accommodations will be provided that will also serve as a remote office location.  Occasionally, work may be performed at the employee's home office.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Compensation: Ecology Action offers a competitive salary and a generous benefit package that includes medical, dental, vision and flexible spending benefits; a 401k-retirement plan with a 4% match; and group life insurance.  Driving an insured personal vehicle on company business is required, and mileage reimbursement is provided at the Federal rate.
