Description

The Student Conservation Association is currently accepting applications for Crew Leader positions for the summer 2009 DC & Baltimore Conservation Crew Program.

Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of six high school participants ages 15-18 yrs old for seven weeks (Mon-Fri. 8hrs/day) completing an assortment of hands-on conservation projects in DC & Baltimore area parks.  Plan and lead weekly educational field trips and a 4-day camping trip.  Provide and maintain a safe working environment.

Program Dates:

  • June 29 - August 14

Program Date includes six weeks of conservation work and one week of job skills training for the crew members.

Training Dates: [travel, accommodations, and meals provided at training]  
Applicants must be able to attend one of the following training sessions:

  • Session 1:  May 29 - June 5, 2009
  • Session 2:  Alternative Dates TBA

Additional professional development courses including Wilderness First Aid may be offered prior to training. .

Salary:
$900-$1,000 biweekly, depending on qualifications and experience

Qualifications: 21 years or older; experience working with urban youth; ability to maintain a safe, productive and enjoyable work environment; strong interest in working with and mentoring youth; outdoor skills; valid driver’s license for 3+ years and clean driving record; current First Aid and CPR certifications or ability to obtain; ability to pass background check per SCA standards
