Directory Entry : EIA undercover investigations expose transnational wildlife crime, with a focus on elephants, pangolins and tigers and forest crimes such as illegal logging and deforestation for cash crops such as palm oil. EIA work to safeguard global marine ecosystems by addressing the threats posed by plastic pollution, bycatch and commercial exploitation of whales, dolphins and porpoises and reduce the impact of climate change by campaigning to eliminate powerful refrigerant greenhouse gases, exposing related illicit trade and improving energy efficiency in the cooling sector. We use our findings in hard-hitting reports to campaign for improved governance and more effective enforcement. For jobs with the EIA visit their website. Description

Face to Face Volunteer Fundraisers-Birmingham, 24-25th October, 2009

EIA’s mission is to protect the natural environment by investigating, exposing and preventing environmental crime and abuse. We use undercover investigation and research to document instances of illegal practice, campaign for protection through better enforcement of environmental law, push for progressive policy-making and changes in consumer behaviour.

EIA leads international efforts to protect the world's 83 species of whales, dolphins and porpoises that remain unprotected by international law. These forgotten whales face an uncertain future and a host of environmental threats such as pollution, ozone depletion and climate change. EIA has exposed the biggest cetacean kill in the world - the Dall's porpoise hunt in Japan where up to 18,000 Dall's porpoises are slaughtered every year. EIA will continue to fight for increased protection of this gentle, intelligent creature and other forgotten whales.

At the Dive show in Birmingham, EIA is looking to inform people about our efforts on the cetacean campaign and raise funds to further our cause and help save whales, dolphins and porpoises.
