At present, we can only accept qualified professionals as volunteers at our two rescue centres, one in Chengdu, Sichuan province, China and our new centre at Tam Dao, near Hanoi, Vietnam. Please check the current positions available.
The Moon Bear Rescue Centre in Chengdu has rescued over 215 bears from cruel bile farms. These bears are rehabilitated and released into semi-natural enclosures and will live out the rest of their lives in peace and without fear. The centre also cares for two macaques, a leopard cat, and almost a dozen cats and dogs!
The rescue centre is in a rural area about an hour's drive from the city of Chengdu. Volunteers spend most of their time at the centre. Those accepted as volunteers will be provided with shared accommodation, meals on-site and transportation between Chengdu International Airport and the Moon Bear Rescue Centre. Accommodation is on-site and limited, so sharing rooms is generally necessary. Meals are provided in our canteen, and they are Sichuan-style Chinese food so can sometimes be spicy. Vegetarian food is always available.
The Vietnam rescue centre, which is still under construction, is also in a rural location, about two hours' drive from Hanoi. As in Chengdu, basic accommodation, meals and transport from the airport to the centre are provided.
