This project - located on a private wildlife reserve - offers numerous research and volunteer opportunities that promote the development of field work skills and research techniques, whilst providing an enjoyable and memorable African experience. Some of the research programs include giraffe identification and behavioural studies, baboon human conflict, alien and invasive plant species control, and small mammal trapping. The research centre also caters to students, researchers and volunteers interested in anthropology, art and design, and independent research.
The project offers affordable adventure and leisure activities so participants can utilise the rich cultural and ecological heritage of the area (e.g. game drives, guided wildlife walks and mountain hiking).
The project costs £285 per month which includes accommodation with self-catering facilities, project supervision, full use of research centre facilities, internet access, transportation on the reserve, etc. Camping is also possible at a daily rate of £4.25. Meals can be bought on-site or prepared in on-site kitchen. Fortnightly shopping trips are arranged for participants to purchase groceries and supplies.
