Description

This project is located in one of the world’s most important sites for nesting Loggerhead turtles. The main objective is to protect and conserve Loggerhead turtles, through deterring illegal hunting and protecting nesting habitat.

There are various ways in which you can contribute to the conservation of marine turtles, depending on your experience and the time you have available, ranging from a few weeks to the entire season. You can even participate if you have only a few days on your holiday.

This work involves patrolling beaches (night and morning) to monitor nesting and deter hunting, data collection, research, working with tourists and local businesses, operation of two hatcheries, outreach activities and beach clean-ups. Volunteers are required from the beginning of June until mid-December.

Long term wildlife rangers receive free accommodation and a food allowance. Short term wildlife rangers cover all their own expenses. Accommodation in surf hotels or apartments is available for £90 per week.

If you have any questions or want to apply please visit the Volunteer for Africa website for further guidance.
