Volunteer Trekking Guide

Climb volcanoes, see lava, go volcano boarding, cross mangrove swamps and meet people from all over the world.

Description: SONATI is a Nicaraguan non-profit environmental education organization, carrying out FREE activities for thousands of local children and many other environmental projects.

SONATI also offer eco-adventure tours for tourists, ALL tour profits finance our environmental projects. We are looking for energetic and motivated volunteers to work as trekking guides and share the beauty of Nicaragua with tourists from all over the world. Work at SONATI can be intensive, but it is very rewarding: volunteers have a lot of space to influence and make a change in SONATI; work with excellent motivated team; and you can always join our environmental activities and see in your own eyes what can be financed only thanks for you and where the treks' money is going to!

Volunteer duties and responsibilities:

• Learn guiding topics for each trek (mainly volcanism and local flora & fauna especially birds) 
• Guide 2-3 treks per week.
• Take care for preparation and cleanup of each trek.
• Help with promotions and treks publication at Leon.
• Help at the SONATI hostel's reception (when not guiding or at day-off) to attend guests and sign people up for treks.

Qualifications:

• Outdoor trekking or hiking experience.
• Good physical condition.
• Friendly, very good inter-personal communicative abilities.
• Good English.
• At list basic Spanish. Additional languages- advantage.

Time commitment:

At least 3 month

Additional information:

Volunteers can stay for free at SONATI hostel in Leon (Nicaragua) in Central America; all expenses are paid on treks.
