Description

Two based at Cambourne, two based at Grafham Water

A voluntary VRO role is suitable for someone looking to begin a career in practical wildlife conservation. Successful candidates will assist the reserves team in managing the Wildlife Trust’s Cambridgeshire nature reserves including habitat management of grassland, wetland and woodland sites and access maintenance. Approximately 90% of their time will be spent on physical work on sites. They will receive formal training and certification in first aid, use of brushcutters and chainsaws, as well as free places on in-house training workshops.

An ideal candidate would be able to commit to 3-5 days per week for 9 months. Applicants should be capable of using power tools and machinery and enjoy days of physical work outdoors. Good team working skills and an ability to be self-motivated are essential. A driving license (essential for Grafham Water) and some previous experience of practical conservation work would be an advantage. Limited travel expenses are available.
