WWF, together with the Cambodian Forestry Administration, and Ministry of Environment, is implementing a comprehensive programme of conservation activities in a cohesive landscape approach in the Eastern Plains Dry Forests landscape (EPL). The EPL is a globally significant biodiversity landscape A large part of this works aims to restore the once abundant populations of large mammal species in the landscape through community based natural resources management and by developing alternative options for sustainable sources of income for local communities and for protected area management.
I. Major Function The position will act as volunteer for WWF’s conservation work in Mondulkiri province. This position involves data gathering, data entry and analysis on wildlife and forest crime that has occurred in Mondulkiri Province in last four years (2007-2011). The position will work closely with Provincial enforcement authorities and judiciary.
II. Major Duties and Accountabilities: • Collect data from Forestry Administration Cantonment and Provincial Department of Environment on wildlife and forestry crime that has occurred in last four years. • Collect information on drawbacks in wildlife/forestry crime cases through informal interview with rangers, judicial police, prosecutor, investigation judge and other enforcement officials. • Enter collected data into legal database of WWF Cambodia • Analyse the data and write report with help from enforcement team members, data assistant and advisor.
III. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: Education: • Bachelor or Masters degree in Law, students pursuing their degrees can also apply;
1. Knowledge: • Understanding of Criminal Procedure Code, Forestry Administration Law and Protected Area Law; • Understanding of Cambodian Judiciary System; • Fluency in written and spoken English and Khmer; • Proficiency in MS Office.
