Volunteer Internship, Water Insight Research (unpaid), London

CDP is seeking an intern to support its Water program. The principal responsibility of the successful applicant will be to analyse a range of company response data to guide the development of a scoring methodology for our water program.

Main responsibilities

There are a number of research paths that we would like to investigate. One of these is outlined below:

• Analyse responses from 191 companies looking specifically at the water-related goals and targets companies are currently reporting
• Develop a short report covering:
  • Types of targets/goals being reported
  • Levels of ambition of targets/goals
  • Sector trends
  • Leading practice examples
• Present findings to the water scoring methodology team to inform their process
• Contribute to a written blog/article outlining the findings of the above analysis and providing insights into the types of targets/goals companies should be considering in relation to water.

Requirements

• Excellent qualitative analytical skills
• Experience translating analytical findings into actionable outputs/plans
• Appreciation of strategic target setting within companies
• An understanding of CDP, its mission, and value to key audiences such as investors, companies and policymakers

This is a unique opportunity to develop skills and experience in analysis and development for a global charity. The ideal candidate will be a confident self starter with strong analytical ability, excellent writing skills and a keen interest in water. Some experience in corporate communications and business management is preferable.

The candidate must be able to commit to working at least 2 days per week on a regular schedule from mid-November until at least the end of December 2012 although there is potential to extend this internship if the candidate’s situation allows. The position is unpaid; however lunch and travel expenses within London can be reimbursed.
