Description

This project is looking for a volunteer with experience in marine sciences and related field work to volunteer at its research station. Primary responsibilities include preparing field equipment for shark tagging, participating in field trips in and around the principal islands of the Galapagos Archipelago (shark and pelagic species census), and conducting interviews with tourists. The project is carrying out an economic assessment of the value of sharks for the non-extractive activities in Galapagos. Proven extensive dive experience - preferably in challenging conditions - and marine and related field work experience are required. The project is scheduled to begin in July 2012 for a duration of 6 months. The application deadline is the 20 April, 2012.

The volunteer is responsible for covering their own living expenses (accommodation and food). The project will help the volunteer attain an entry permit (visa).
