Volunteer at Wildlife Sanctuary and Retreat centre

 Want to have an experience of your life, whilst giving back to the wildlife, environment and people in need?

Come and join a project like no other! Dhamma Wildlife Foundation Thailand (DWFT) invites you to come and help our rescued wildlife at our rescue centre, bordering the National Park in Chiang Dao, 1.5 hours north of Chiang Mai.

It is also an organic permaculture farm with many tropical fruit trees planted, with a retreat centre currently being built.

Volunteers join our mindfulness programs in the mornings, doing yoga and meditation, and then we help clean the animal’s enclosures, do food prep and feed-outs and then give behavioural enrichment to keep our animals stimulated and excited by life.

The other work in the day could include gardening, painting, building enrichment toys, fixing enclosures, setting up camera traps within the National Park and much more.

Once weekly, we also extend humanitarian care, by volunteering in the local community. We are also setting up a reforestation project to plant and save trees.

Currently we house 4 Asiatic Black Bears, 4 Macaques and 2 Slow Lorises, and will be getting more animals once we erect more enclosures. Because of the location bordering a nationally protected area, we are also able to rehabilitate and release suitable animals.

We plan to have earth building workshops, and meditation retreats and other healing modalities.

The core foundation of the centre is one of inspiration. We like to have open sharing, music, fun whilst working for the good of the planet.

Subsequent weeks are US$175 per week.

Fees include:

• 3 meals a day: Wholesome and delicious vegetarian. We use organic food whenever possible, and can cater for vegans, with gluten-free options. This includes drinking water, coffee and tea.
• Accommodation at the sanctuary: It is simple but comfortable Thai-style, with 1-4 person shared rooms.
