Are you comfortable walking around a farm, using GIS and chatting to groups of farmers/volunteers? We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and computer literate individual to deliver the Volunteer & Farmer Alliance project in the North East and Yorkshire & Humber areas. This involves facilitating around 80 farm surveys a year through the pairing of volunteers with farmers. Experience is required in supervising and training volunteers, undertaking farmland bird surveys, and farmland bird ID skills. Excellent IT skills are essential with experience of mapping and GIS programmes. The postholder will need to be personable and patient, have great communication skills and the ability to instil enthusiasm in farmers and volunteers. It is desirable that the postholder has a degree or equivalent in a natural science subject as well as knowledge of farmland bird management and its effects on farmland birds.
