Visitor Services Manager – Kinloch Castle, Isle of Rum

37 hours, plus on call requirement, fixed term contract until 31st March 2015

Starting Salary £23,839, this post is eligible for distant islands allowance and an on call allowance

Locations: Island of Rum

(Ref: 044-302) 

To manage the provision of an efficient and customer-focused visitor service at Kinloch Castle Hostel on the Isle of Rum, to oversee day to day management of the listed building and tours of the historic interior, to work on strategic development of wider visitor facilities and interpretation on Rum with the Rum Reserve Team and the Isle of Rum Community Trust. Weekend / out of hours working is a regular feature of this post.

You must have significant experience in visitor management and hospitality with excellent communication and 'people' skills to deal effectively with a wide range of visitors.  Excellent management and leadership skills to motivate staff and deliver the highest standards of customer care with an organised but flexible approach and an ability to juggle the varying demands of a busy facility is a must. You must also have significant experience in business / financial planning and management and significant experience and understanding of the tourism industry and marketing / promotions. Proven ability and experience in interpreting natural and cultural heritage and experience / understanding of working in partnerships and in liaison with local communities are also a must. Finally, you must have a current driving licence.
