Job Description Job Title:                                   Visitor Centre Marketing Officer, CAT Visitor Centre Salary:                                       £17,458 per annum pro rata    Working hours:                         32 hours per week over 5 days, including some weekends, public holidays and                                                     Evenings, on a rota basis. Status;                                     Permanent subject to successful completion of a six month probationary period.  Job SummaryThe Visitor Centre Marketing Officer’s role is to maintain and increase CAT’s visitor numbers to the Visitor Centre by supporting existing markets and developing new ones. The VCMO should ensure the effective promotion of CAT’s facilities, customer satisfaction and business success. The role will also incorporate the co-ordination of CAT’s overall marketing strategy.The VCMO will work closely with the Visitor Services Co-ordinator in relation to marketing and assist, when necessary, the VSC with the smooth running of Reception. Responsibilities 1. Marketing ·         To devise, develop and implement targeted marketing strategies for the Visitor Centre, ensuring liaison with other appropriate parties and with particular focus on the travel trade, environmental organisations, trade organisations, authorities and different sectors of the consumer market including joint marketing initiatives. ·         To ensure marketing and promotion strategies are cohesive with other Centre departments including the Quarry Shop and Quarry Café.·         To convene and take forward a CAT Marketing Group with a view to co-ordinating CAT’s overall marketing strategy.·         To undertake and use market research. To analyse visitor feedback to define markets. To target existing audiences and to identify and target new audiences.·         To work with the education department and WISE marketing staff to market group visits (educational and non-educational), with a view to increasing visitor numbers in low season periods.·         To identify new markets in liaison with internal CAT enterprises (e.g. Mail Order and CAT Membership) as well as external sources.·         To be responsible for the purchasing and placing of Visitor Centre adverts and other Visitor Centre publicity.·         To undertake mail shots (paper and electronic).·         To provide publishers (on-line and off-line) with accurate and timely information about CAT’s Visitor Centre and its calendar of events.·         To be responsible for the timely completion of design and production of the Visitor centre leaflet and other promotional materials.·         To be responsible for the appointment of distributors for promotional material and monitoring to ensure it is carried out effectively.·         To be responsible for mailing out leaflets, information and complementary tickets to various contacts.·         To be responsible for the distribution of leaflets, posters and vouchers locally.·         To inform all relevant departments of the correct pricing structure, promotional activities and opening times.·         To ensure all publicity information related to promoting the Visitor Centre (e.g. web sites, local listings, signage) is consistent, up to date, accurate and responds to seasonal variations. To liaise with the Display co-ordinator as appropriate. ·         As part of the Communications Team, to assist with tourism related media and other public relations work.·         To programme, plan and promote on-site events.·         To write and update copy on the Visitor Centre and events pages of the CAT website and upload images; manage entry of accommodation providers; maintain customer contact base.·         To maintain and increase the online presence of the Visitor Centre including e-listings for events; researching and buying online advertising; developing Web 2.0 strategies through social network forums. 
  1. Reception.
·         To assist the VSC with the smooth running of Reception when necessary.·         To take part in Reception duties and/or cover Receptionists breaks as required (approx. 1 day duties or break cover per week over 3 months). See separate sheet for details. 
  1. Budget and Finances.
·         To act as Visitor Centre Marketing and Services Budget Head – compiling budget and keeping to this throughout the year, in liaison with VSC.·         To compile financial and activity reports to present to Overview including regular updates on visitor numbers.·         To be responsible for Gift Aid claims in liaison with Finance department. 
  1. Other Duties.
·         To attend a monthly Staff meeting between self, VSC and Reception staff.·         To provide reports and information to management and monitoring groups by the dates set by those groups. In particular, to provide financial, progress and environmental performance information.·         To effectively delegate responsibilities to those in their team.·         To meet with their team at least monthly to discuss team and individual issues, noting, publishing and following up on actions       5.   Co-operative Duties·         To attend a minimum of 6 monthly staff meetings per year (or such other number as may be agreed with the Management Group).·         To consider issues presented to the staff body and be involved in the consensus decision-making process regarding such issues.·         To input to policy development when policies are proposed by the Directions Team·         To input to the strategy process when requested by the Directions Team.·         To comply all CAT’s policies and processes as they are amended from time to time. To read and act upon policies and processes as they are approved.·         To be responsible for own health and safety plus that of others as defined in the job description. To report to the Health and Safety Committee any matters of concern regarding health and safety.
